Maerz Lime Kilns. Worldwide.

Technology Partnership for Lhoist S.A.’s GLOBE Project in Marche-les-Dames, Belgium

Lhoist SA and Maerz Ofenbau AG are pleased to announce their technology partnership for the GLOBE project at the Lhoist Group's Marche-les-Dames plant in Belgium.

The GLOBE project is a ground-breaking project for the dolime industry using state-of-the-art technology to capture the CO2 emitted during the dolime burning process and make it available for further use or sequestration. The project would represent a total investment of € 250 million over the next few years. For more information, please visit the Lhoist website.

The centrepiece of this project is the construction of a new kiln from the Maerz EcoKiln® series by Maerz Ofenbau AG in Zurich. This new development of a kiln based on the proven PFR technology, makes it possible to enrich the CO2 content in the kiln exhaust gas to over 90 %, thus greatly simplifying the downstream systems up to the liquefaction of the high-purity CO2. This would results in optimised investment and operating costs. You can find more information about the Maerz EcoKiln® on the Maerz website.

The new kiln is scheduled to become operational in 2027 and the downstream CO2 processing plants would be built from 2028.

Do you have any suggestions on the topic or want to know more? I look forward to hearing from you.
