In summer 2014, a new chapter in the company's history began when Daesung signed a contract with Maerz Ofenbau AG for a modern coal-fired Maerz PFR kiln with a production capacity of 200 t/d of quicklime. This first kiln, which processes limestone with a grain size of 45 - 80 mm, is now operating to the customer's complete satisfaction.
In order to better utilise the quarry, the project for a second coal-fired Maerz PFR kiln with a daily capacity of 300 t of quicklime began in spring 2017. This kiln processes limestone with a grain size of 25 - 55 mm.
With the second kiln, Daesung has set a milestone in its history and gained importance in the lime industry. The plant, named "Limechem Center", has been operating steadily with the various limestone grain sizes since 2019, producing lime of stable and good quality.
In early 2021, Daesung's management decided to build a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) firing system in order to be able to react flexibly to the price fluctuations of coal and gas. However, the Corona pandemic led to various project delays, so that the new plant could not go into operation until the end of 2021.
